How long does a Hertz claim take to be answered?
Every claim submitted through this page is reviewed and answered within 24 hours. Claims that need documents to be checked, such as damage disputes or refunds, can take a few working days to be fully resolved.
How do I dispute a Hertz damage charge?
Choose the Damage Dispute category on the claim form, enter your rental agreement number and the incident date, and attach any photos of the vehicle taken at pick-up and drop-off. Photos with a visible date are the strongest evidence in a dispute.
How do I ask for a refund on a Hertz rental?
Choose Billing & Refunds, attach the receipt or card statement line showing the charge, and explain in the description what you were charged for and what you expected to pay.
I left something in a Hertz car. What should I do?
Choose Lost Item and tell us the location where you returned the car, the return date, and a clear description of the item. The branch is contacted directly and you are told whether the item was recovered.
What documents should I attach to my claim?
Attach whatever supports your case: the rental agreement, the final invoice, photos of any damage, fuel or toll receipts, or a card statement. You can add up to five files of 10MB each in image, PDF or Word format.
Do I need an account to submit a claim?
No. The claim form is open to everyone. You only need a working email address so the response reaches you.
Can I submit a claim for a rental in another country?
Yes. Claims for any Hertz location are accepted here. Include the city or airport branch in the location field so the claim reaches the right team.
Is my information safe?
Your claim and any files you upload are sent over an encrypted connection and stored privately. Only Hertz support staff handling your claim can open them.
